What to do if you're anxious or worried about coronavirus (COVID-19)?
The North Peel FHT Mental Health and Social Worker provides assessment, short-term counselling, therapy, patient education, advocacy and referral to community resources or our inhouse psychiatric services when needed. A range of counselling services and referrals are provided to patients and their family members. The following include some of the issues that might be addressed by the Social Worker:
- Anxiety management
- Stress management
- Managing depression
- Substance misuse/abuse
- Senior's mental health issues
- Long-term care needs
- Grief / Bereavement
- Trauma / Abuse
- Self-Esteem
- Homelessness
- Income Security
- Work / disability issues
- Marital / Couple Issues
- Family concerns/conflict
- Other concerns and difficulties
The social worker can provide services through:
- one on one counselling
- couples and family counseling
- support groups
- home visits for seniors or patients with physical disabilities
The North Peel FHT Social Workers have both a Bachelors Degree and a Master's degree in Social Work and are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
Referrals for Mental Health and Social work services are made by the North Peel FHT family physicians or allied health professionals.
The Social Worker provides assessment, short-term psychosocial/mental health counseling and education, advocacy and community referrals. Patients meet with the Social worker for regular sesions at intervals determined together by the client and the social worker.
